54 delegates in Kano petition APC, INEC over exclusion claims

Some delegates from All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kumbutso local government area of Kano state have petitioned the state and national leadership of the party alongside state and national secretariats of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) claiming that 54 delegates were excluded in the just concluded party primaries that produced candidate that will represent the local government at the National Assembly.

According to the petition written by Adnan Ahmad and 53 others, read to newsmen by Barrister Sulaiman Sa’idu, on Friday, stated that the delegates were not allowed to participate in the May 17 2022 party primaries that produced the party’s candidate from Kumbotso federal constituency.

Sa’idu further explained that the petition has become necessary as the delegates were disenfranchised their constitutional right as citizens of Nigeria by excluding them in the primaries.

He also stated that fake delegates were made to replace the real delegates during the conduct of the primaries in the federal constituency, an act the petition described as violation of the party’s rules and regulations.

The petition further stated that, as party loyalists, the affected delegates had to petitioned all stakeholders as a first step to address the issue at hand before other avenues are considered
