A Presidential aspirant and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu has emerged presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party.
Moghalu emerged through an indirect process of delegates election at the party’s maiden National Convention and Presidential Primaries held on Saturday in Abuja.
Moghalu defeated his only opponent Mr Donald Igwegbu, after scoring 243 votes out of 253 accredited delegates.
Though Mr Donald Igwegbu later stepped down for Moghalu who had worked at the UN for about twenty years.
Igwegbu urged party members and his loyalists to support Kingsley Moghalu, while urging other politicians to emulate his spirit of sportsmanship.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Moghalu said Nigeria needed a leader of international repute, not politicians that had failed the country, noting that good governance and transparency will be his watch word when elected.
