Moji Makanjuola appointed Champion for NHIA

The founder and Executive Director of the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH), Chief (Mrs), Moji M Makanjuola was on Wednesday, in Lagos, appointed as the Champion for National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Leadership Development Program.

The event which took place at the Pan Atlantic University Lagos, witnessed Makanjuola, a former President of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), presented with an Award for her selfless service to humanity and towering contributions to the development of the health sector in Nigeria

In her acceptance speech, Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, who was overwhelmed by emotions and joy, assured of her commitment to advancing good leadership in the Nigeria’s health sector.

Her pet project, “The International Society of Media in Public Health, (ISMPH)” is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), established to mainstream the media as a potent tool to accelerate healthcare information, healthcare delivery and development in Nigeria.

She noted that public health issues have become major measurement of social-economic development especially on the African continent and other developing countries, adding that the concerns about Public health, Sanitation, water shelter and the environment are critical to the development of national objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Chief (Mrs) Makanjuola explained that the formation of ISMPH was in recognition of the very important roles that the media play in ensuring that public health issues are human rights issues and are recognized as development issues.

She said ISMPH is principally aimed at promoting and advancing Public Health and development using the Media as an effective tool with a mission to engage the media as a strategic tool to accelerate health care & development information, create demand and pursue vigorously health rights as human rights.

Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, who hold the National Honours Award of the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), currently heads the International Society of Media in Public Health as Executive Director and devoted to mainstreaming the media as a potent tool to accelerate health care information and health care service delivery in Nigeria and beyond through the dissemination of health information and advocacy in public health.

She also heads Bronz & amp; Onyx International Limited a marketing, creative communication and media outfit with the vision to be one of the leading providers of integrated and strategic communication in various dynamic media.

Chief (Mrs) Makanjuola holds a Bachelors’ degree in Media Studies from the American Heritage University, San Bernadino, USA and an Advance Diploma in Media Studies from Bayero University Kano. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma from the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) Abuja and has in view a Master Degree in Media Studies from the University of Abuja.

She is also a Knight Fellow of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Atlanta, USA.

She attended both Voice of America Training School and Gemini News London’s course in Environmental Reporting and had her earliest broadcast trainings at the Prestigious Nigerian Television Authority Training School, Jos and the Nigerian Broadcast Corporation Training School Lagos respectively.
