AANI congratulates Brig.-Gen. Kukasheka on Sentinel of Freedom Award
The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has congratulated its member, retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman Kukasheka, on the conferment of the prestigious Sentinel of Freedom Award by the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement by Amb. Emmanuel Okafor, President of the Alumni Association, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Okafor congratulated Usman, who is the immediate past Publicity Secretary of AANI, on behalf of the National Executive Committee and the entire membership.
He described the national honour as a well-deserved recognition of Usman’s outstanding military career and exemplary service as Director of Army Public Relations and Spokesman of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, the award was appropriate considering the recipient’s sustained post-retirement contributions to national unity, strategic communication, veterans’ welfare and the strengthening of Nigeria’s security institutions.
Okafor noted that the award, bestowed long after his voluntary retirement from service, reflected the enduring impact of a life defined by professionalism, integrity, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation.
He said it took immense pride in the achievement, stressing that the honour brought credit not only to Brig.-Gen. Usman and his family, but also to the association as a community of leaders committed to national development and public service.
“We celebrate this milestone with him and wish him continued strength, fulfilment and relevance as he remains a worthy ambassador of our shared values and ideals,” he said. (NAN)
