JUST IN: Abducted Nasarawa commissioner, Lawal regains freedom
Abducted Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lawal Yakubu has been released by his abductors after spending five days in the hands of kidnappers.
The state Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the release of the commissioner in a telephone interview with journalists on Friday.
He said the development followed sustained pressure of combined security operatives on the kidnappers.

Solacebase had reported that Nasarawa Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Alhaji Yakubu Lawal was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Monday at about 9:45 in the night at his residence in Nasarawa Eggon local government area of the state.
DSP Ramhan Nansel stated that the commissioner was immediately rushed to an undisclosed medical facility in the state for examination before reuniting with his family after his release at about 6 o’clock in the evening
The Police Spokesperson however noted that security surveillance had been intensified in Nasarawa Eggon local government area following increased insecurity in the area.
