ACReSAL opens bid for contractor’s engagement for Bulbula-Gayawa gully erosion control project in Kano

On Monday, the Kano Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) opened bids for a contractor’s engagement for the Bulbula-Gayawa gully erosion control project.

The session was held at the Conference Hall of the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) of the ACReSAL project.

SolaceBase had reported that on November 8th, 2024, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State visited the site and pledged to tackle the devastating gully erosion in Bulbula-Gayawa in Ungogo Local Government Area, which has plagued the community for decades.

Gov Yusuf emphasised the urgent need for action to protect lives and property in the area.

“My administration is committed to addressing land degradation, environmental risks, and climate change impacts.

“This will be achieved through the Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) project, in partnership with the World Bank and the federal government of Nigeria,” Yusuf said.

The affected communities include Bulbula-Gayawa, Nasarawa and Fagge local government areas.

A statement issued by Maryam Abdulquadir, Communication Officer, Kano-ACReSAL, on Monday, said the bid opening session presided over by the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim,  provided a transparent platform where the submitted bids were opened and read in the presence of representatives from the bidding companies, SPMU staff, and members of the press.

Dr. Hashim, a commissioner designate assured the participants of equal opportunities and promised to share the results of the proceedings transparently and fairly.

Speaking on behalf of the bidding firms, a representative expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, through the Kano-ACReSAL project, for initiating this significant project, which will greatly benefit the people.

He also thanked the organizers for the privilege of participating in the bidding process and assured them of his firm’s commitment to diligently execute the project in accordance with the specifications and guidelines outlined in the project documents, if selected.
