ADC USA Chairman diaspora welcomes Kwankwaso, calls move beginning of change

The United States Diaspora Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed the former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement into the party, describing the development as a defining moment for Nigeria’s political future.

In a statement personally signed and sent to SolaceBase on Tuesday, the Chairman of ADC Nigeria–USA Diaspora Chapter, Dr. Safiyanu Saidu Ali, said the chapter received Kwankwaso and his supporters with “immense pride,” describing the former presidential candidate as a statesman and one of Nigeria’s most consequential political leaders.

Dr. Ali stated that the entry of Kwankwaso and his political structure into the ADC signals a major turning point for the party and the country, noting that the development reflects the arrival of “the winds of change” in Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, the ADC platform would serve as the foundation upon which the country’s next phase of genuine transformation would be built.

“Welcome home, Engineer Dr. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” Dr. Ali said in the statement.

“On behalf of the ADC USA Diaspora Chapter, I welcome with immense pride our father, our statesman, and one of Nigeria’s most consequential political leaders, and his entire Kwankwasiyya Movement into the ADC family.”

He described Kwankwaso as a leader whose public service career has demonstrated competence and dedication to grassroots empowerment, referencing his tenure as a two-term governor of Kano State, former Minister of Defence, senator, and presidential candidate.

Dr. Ali further noted that Kwankwaso’s decision to align with the ADC goes beyond what he called a “strategic realignment,” saying it represents a broader push to challenge poor governance and reposition Nigeria’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added that the move sends a clear message that the era of politics as usual must come to an end.

“Our people at home and our diaspora voices are now united on one platform, with one mission—to reclaim Nigeria by 2027,” he said, expressing optimism that the political coalition would contribute to addressing the country’s security challenges, particularly in northern Nigeria.

The ADC diaspora leader also assured members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement that they were not merely joining a political party but becoming part of a broader movement committed to national rebuilding.

He said the diaspora chapter would support the effort through advocacy, international engagement, and voter mobilisation.

“With Senator Kwankwaso’s stature and a rapidly growing coalition behind us, ADC is not just ready to contest; ADC is ready to govern Nigeria,” Dr. Ali added.

Dr. Ali, earned a Doctorate Degree in Information Technology and Management, and a successful businessman, previously contested for the House of Representatives seat for the Gabasawa/Gezawa Federal Constituency in 2015.

He also served as Secretary of the Directorate for Diaspora Groups in the Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 general elections.
