Alleged Adultery: Husband appeals to Kano, Jigawa governors not to interfere for justice to prevail

Nasir Buba, the husband of the woman allegedly found with the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, in an uncompleted building in Kano, has appealed to the governors of Kano and Jigawa states not to interfere in the court cases.

At a news conference in Kano on Tuesday, Buba urged Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, to allow justice to take its course without using their influence to distort the investigation.

“I call on Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi not to interfere in this case. Let justice prevail, and I beseech them in God’s name not to influence or interfere with the investigation as directed by the court,” Buba said.

He also addressed claims made by his wife’s lawyer, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu, who accused him of being a drug addict and abusive. Buba firmly denied the accusations, stating that he has never used drugs or maltreated his wife.

“My attention was drawn to information circulating on social media that my wife’s lawyer claimed I am a drug addict, that I beat my wife, and that I brandished a gun during arguments, shooting in the air. This is not true; such things have never happened,” he said.

Buba expressed disappointment in the false claims, emphasizing that as a Muslim, Shuaibu should stop spreading falsehood just under the guise of trying to justify what he himself knows to be false. “He also said I divorced my wife twice, which is false. I only divorced her once, and we reconciled within the shortest period. We are still living together. He claimed I beat her and shot a gun during arguments—when did this happen? Where were my neighbours or the police? Did she report anything to the authorities? These are all lies,” he added.

Buba also shared that he and his wife have two children, with one being less than a year old. He stated that they were living peacefully until this incident occurred.

“Saying that she returned to her parents because she couldn’t live with me is not true. We are still together. This is just an attempt to tarnish my image. Even my neighbours know she is staying in my house.

The day Hisbah officials arrested her, she was driving a car that I bought for her just two months ago. How could I buy her a car if she wasn’t living with me? I am truly unhappy with these false allegations,” he concluded.

Similarly, Buba clarified that there are two separate cases in court over the matter, which include a direct complaint he filed before the court and a case instituted by Hisbah Board after arresting the defendants in an uncompleted building.

The defendants were granted bail on the condition that they appear on Tuesday for arraignment, but they failed to show up.
