Army probes poor feeding allegation by troops fighting B’Haram

The Chief of Army Staff,  Lt.  Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed an investigation into complaints of poor feeding of troops on the frontline in the North-East region, fighting insurgency.

Lagbaja assured the public and all personnel that a thorough investigation would be conducted to get to the root of the complaints.

The Director,  Army Public Relations,  Brig.  Gen.  Onyema Nwachukwu,  in a statement on Tuesday.

It said the COAS took the allegations seriously,  adding that the Army under his leadership placed a premium on the welfare of troops.

“It is crucial to point out to the general public that the welfare of troops under the present leadership of the NA takes a premium place amongst other important schemes and considerations as it is one of the vital pillars of the COAS Command Philosophy, which is to provide ‘sound administration’ to ensure a highly motivated force,’’ the statement said.

“The NA, therefore, takes these allegations very seriously and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed immediate investigation into the complaints to ascertain their veracity and unravel the circumstances.

“The NA wishes to assure the public  and all NA personnel that a thorough investigation will be conducted to get to the bottom of these claims.”

Onyema quoted the COAS as assuring the troops that the supply chain and the quality of food given to them would be examined.
