Today, 12th August, 2022, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing marked the United Nations’ International Youth Day in Abuja, at a colorful ceremony attended by the party chieftains across the nation, including the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming presidential election in 2023, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), the national Chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and many other party big wigs.
In his opening remarks at the event, the PDP youth leader, Prince Muhammad Kadade Sulaiman, stated that the purpose of the event with the theme: *Inter-Generational Synergy in Governance* is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. He advocated for the youths inclusion in governance and the need for mentorship and capacity-building.
The chairman of the occasion Hon. Ndudi Elumelu stated that the party bigwigs graced the occasion due to the recognitation and high emphasis on the place of the youths in nation-building. Hon Elumelu who is the Minority.
Leader in the House of Representatives enumerated the empathy for the youths by the Wazirin Adamawa as exemplified in his interactions and vast investments which continues to create employment opportunities for the youths in his private businesses spread across Nigeria. He praised the PDP National Working Committee and enjoined the youths to synergize and be united, focused and resolute in their support to PDP as the emergence of Atiku will correct the errors of the last seven years of hopelessness, created by the APC led administration.
In his address, the PDP presidential candidate, praised the youths for their resilience inspite the current difficult situation of things in the country and reiterated his desire to form a youth inclusive government, if elected into power as his desire is to mentor, prepare and nurture the youths to effectively take over the affairs of the nation and lead the country into prosperity. He admonished the youths to remain focused and dogged and to join the PDP to rescue the nation from bad leadership. He decried the lingering government/ASUU imbroglio that has kept our youths at home and re-emphasized that the right to education is a fundamental right of the youths that should not be compromised.
