Aviation union accuses FAAN of victimizing Kano staff over quarters acquisition

The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) has accused the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) of victimizing some of its staff in Kano over the acquisition of residential quarters.

In a letter signed by ANAP’s Secretary General, Comrade Abdulrasaq Saidu, and addressed to FAAN’s Managing Director, on Thursday, the union condemned the decision to query affected staff members who obtained quarters through the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC).

“We consider this an act of victimization, oppression, and intimidation against FAAN staff,” the letter read.

“The sale of Kano outside quarters affected all other agencies, including NAMA and NiMet, yet instead of querying their staff, those agencies congratulated them for accepting the policy of first right of refusal by PIC.”

The union urged FAAN’s management to reconsider its stance. “In the principle of equity and fairness, we call on FAAN to drop the idea of punishing only FAAN staff for a joint action taken by all agencies,” Saidu stated.

SolaceBase reports that ANAP further advised FAAN to handle the matter through the Ministry of Aviation since it involves multiple agencies.

“It is our hope and belief that FAAN will withdraw the purported query issued to our members in the interest of peace, equity, and justice,” the letter added.
