Barau Football Club of Kano State has arrived in Asaba, Delta State, ahead of the Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight 2025 playoffs.
The Maliya Boys landed in Asaba on Wednesday, in high hopes of securing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season.
A statement issued by the club’s Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, confirmed that Barau FC travelled with a squad of 32 players and over 15 officials, along with the coaching staff.
‘’Barau FC is fully committed to working hard and giving their best performance in the competition to secure a place in the NPFL,’’ the statement said.

The NNL has already announced that the Super Eight tournament will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, from July 5 to 12, 2025.
Eight teams have qualified for the tournament: Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, and Kun Khalifa FC of Owerri.
Others are Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma United of Gombe, and Barau FC of Kano State.

SolaceBase reports that the competition will determine the four teams that will gain promotion to the NPFL for the 2025/26 season, and it will also decide the overall winner of the 2024/25 NNL season.
