By Umar Yakubu

A northern-based advocacy group for good governance has appealed to the federal government to save the lives of residents and the economy of the northeast region of the country.

The group, in a press conference, held on Thursday, passed a vote of confidence on the minister of works, Senator Engineer David Nweze Umahi, and the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They, however, said the road linking Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and some parts of Borno states has become a living hell to residents and commuters traveling the region considering the rate of damage and accidents the bad conditions of the road is causing.

The national chairman of Arewa Advocates for Good Governance, Jamilu Mato said it was as a result of the forum redefining effort to collective roles in a democracy that they deem it fit to recognize the effort of Umahi and his commitment to the renewed hope agenda, saying he is transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape.

According to Mato, “under Senator David Umahi’s stewardship, the Federal Ministry of Works has witnessed a paradigm shift towards excellence and inclusivity.

“His dedication to the “Renewed Hope” agenda, championed by our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is commendable and resonates deeply with the aspirations of our people.

“As such, we proudly commend him for pioneering the construction of concrete roads across Nigeria. This innovative approach not only enhances durability but also signifies a departure from traditional methods, ensuring quality infrastructure for generations to come.”

The group then counts on Umahi’s commitment and visits to corners of the country assessing road conditions, saying it demonstrates his hands-on approach and genuine concern for the well-being of all Nigerians.

“It is with great assurance that we declare our support for the minister’s leadership style and on behalf of the people of the northeast appeal for the construction of the road that links Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Borno states which has been in a very sorry condition.

“We firmly believe in your vision and dedication to consider this appeal, which will yield tangible results, particularly for the people of the North-East, north and the country as a whole.

“This, if done, will echo your commitment to working for all, regardless of religion, or tribe, underscoring an inclusive approach to governance, which aligns perfectly with our values as a nation.”
