A boat accident claimed the lives of four individuals in the Dundaye community of Wamakko Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
The incident, which involved 24 passengers, was confirmed on Tuesday by Alhaji Aliyu Kafindangi, head of the Sokoto Field Operation Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The tragic mishap occurred on Sunday evening. A rescue team made up of NEMA, the Nigerian Red Cross, Fire Services, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and local divers successfully recovered the bodies on Monday.

“One body was recovered on Sunday, and three more were found yesterday, bringing the death toll to four,” Kafindangi reported.
“Nineteen people were rescued, and one person is still missing. Search and rescue efforts continue,” he added.
The NEMA official expressed appreciation to the state and local governments and the community for their ongoing support in the rescue operations.
