BUA Group on Tuesday officially handed over a multi-purpose facility to the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) on a temporary basis in Kano.

This move reaffirms BUA’s commitment to public-private collaboration for sustainable development in the North-West region.

The handover ceremony took place on Court Road and was attended by dignitaries from both the public and private sectors.

Among them were NWDC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Sama’ila Abdullahi, and other members of the Commission’s board.

Mr Khalifa Abdulsamad represented the group’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Alh. Abdul Samad Rabiu, at the event.

He described the handover as a milestone toward inclusive progress and people-centred growth in the North-West.

Rabiu said the temporary facility transfer symbolised BUA’s belief in transformative partnerships between the private sector and public institutions.

“At BUA, true leadership means more than corporate success; it involves vision and dedication to nation-building,” he stated.

Rabiu noted that the North-West zone has great potential for growth and development across various sectors.

He expressed hope that the facility would become a hub for innovation, policy, and economic initiatives in the region.

Rabiu also commended President Bola Tinubu for inaugurating the NWDC board and prioritising regional development.

“We urge NWDC to use this facility as a symbol of hope and transformation,” he added.

Also in attendance were Abdulganiyu Yusuf of BUA Cement, Abuldrasheed Olayiwola of BUA Foods, and Dr Ubon Udoh of ASR Africa.

Earlier, NWDC Chairman, Lawal Abdullahi, thanked BUA Group for its timely support and contribution to the Commission’s take-off.

He said the gesture would greatly aid the NWDC in building a strong foundation for regional development programmes.

“The philanthropic support from BUA will ensure smooth commencement of operations at the Commission,” Abdullahi said.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu for creating the Commission, calling it a long-overdue response to regional challenges.

“This initiative marks a new beginning in addressing developmental issues in the North-West,” he said. (NAN)
