PHOTONEWS: President Buhari commissions $16m, 10MW Kano Solar Plant

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday commissioned a $16m , 10MW Kano Solar plant, at Kumbotso local government area, of Kano , northwest Nigeria.
SOLACEBASE reports that the project from conception to actualization that span over two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic is currently the largest grid-connected solar PV plant across Nigeria.

The Kano Solar plant, fund and project Manager, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) said the plant would provide clean energy to the Challawa Industrial Estate, which would reduce energy challenges of the industries and create more employment opportunities with reduction in cost of production.
According to NSIA Managing Director, Aminu Umar Sadiq, said the 10 MW solar project is situated on a 24 Hectare of land in the Kumbotso Local Government, Kano State.
