The Bayero University Kano (BUK) 1991 Alumni Association (BUK ’91) has hosted a colourful dinner in honour of two of their distinguished classmates who have attained the pinnacle of academic leadership.

The honourees were Professor Haruna Musa Dambatta, the 12th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, and Professor Yahaya Isah Bunkure (Makaman Rano), the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria.

The program, which featured prayers, self-introductions and welcome remarks by the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Shamakeri, climaxed with the presentation of customised congratulatory cards to both honourees in recognition of their remarkable achievements.

The event also witnessed entertainment, refreshments, goodwill speeches by colleagues and guests, and inspiring responses from the two professors, who expressed profound gratitude to their classmates and pledged continued commitment to education, humanity, and the BUK ’91 family.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were members from across the country, cutting across academia, Federal and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies, military, police and other security services, as well as business leaders.

Friends and well-wishers from Bayero University Kano and the newly established Federal University of Education, Zaria, also graced the occasion. Notable among them was the Chief Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Dr Nurudeen Isah.

In his vote of thanks, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Abdullahi, Vice Chairman of the Association, commended members for their solidarity and commitment to celebrating excellence within their ranks.

He noted that honouring the Vice Chancellors was also a recognition of the collective spirit of the set.

The event rounded off with closing prayers, group photographs, and warm camaraderie that reflected the enduring bond among members of the class of 1991.
