BUK students seek strategic partnership with SolaceBase for media capacity building

The National Association of Information and Media Studies Students (NAIMS), Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has extended a formal request to Fridabs SolaceBase Communication, publisher of SolaceBase online newspaper, in Kano, seeking a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing student capacity in journalism, broadcasting, and digital communication.

In an official letter addressed to the management of SolaceBase, the association expressed deep admiration for the organization’s consistent track record of credible reporting and innovation in digital broadcasting across Nigeria.

Speaking on Monday during the visit to SolaceBase office, the president of the association, Comrade Abdussamad Ahmad Muhammad, noted that as an academic and professional student body, NAIMS is committed to nurturing the next generation of media leaders.

“We recognize SolaceBase as a reputable media organization that has consistently demonstrated excellence in credible reporting, online media, and digital broadcasting in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the proposed partnership would focus on capacity building initiatives, including seminars, workshops, and practical training sessions.

NAIMS also seeks sponsorship support to successfully host such events and ensure students have access to industry-standard resources.

A key component of the proposal is the call for mentorship and internship opportunities for NAIMS members, which would allow students to gain real-world experience and deepen their understanding of the media profession.

“While our members will gain invaluable practical knowledge and exposure, SolaceBase will further strengthen its relationship with the academic community and the next generation of media professionals.”

The association expressed readiness to meet with SolaceBase Communications to discuss program themes, timelines, and areas of collaboration at a time convenient to both parties.

Welcoming the students, SolaceBase Editor-in-Chief, Malam Abdullateef Abubakar Jos, lauded the initiative of the students as future media professionals.

‘’I am happy to receive you and appreciate the fact that you are willing to combine practical knowledge with the theory you are taught in the university so that you can be better prepared when going into the labour market, ‘’Abdullateef stated.

‘’SolaceBase, as a multimedia organization that focuses more on accountability reportage and developmental journalism, has incorporated mentorship of young journalists into its program by creating campus reporters hub at Bayero University Kano and Federal University of Kashere in Gombe State.’’

He assured the students of readiness to support the partnership that will enhance their knowledge acquisition and sharpen their journalism skills with a nose for impactful stories.
