Company donates 40 WPS licenses for ABU’s smart classrooms

A software company, Kingsoft Inc., has donated 40 Writer Presentation Spread sheet (WPS) licenses to enhance digital teaching and learning at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria.

A statement issued by ABU’s spokesman, Auwalu Umar, said the donation was announced during the training of 50 lecturers by UNESCO International Center for Higher Education Innovation.

Umar said the software company announced the donation shortly after a virtual  presentation on the topic “WPS Office: A solution for Modernised Digital Office and Education”.

He said that the International Institute for Online Education, Nigeria National Centre located in ABU would utilise the licence to strengthen institutional policy implementation for digital teaching and learning.

“The WPS licenses are to be deployed specifically at the ABU Smart Classroom, Department of Computer Engineering, and at some select higher education institutions partners,’’ Umar said.

He said the initiative would boost digital education at the university and partner institutions. (NAN)
