A Kano State High Court has restrained the police and its agents from arresting a broadcast journalist, Nasiru Salisu Zango.

The presiding judge, Justice Abdu Maiwada Abubakar in a suit filed by Nasiru Salisu Zango through his Counsel, Barrister A.A. Hikima against Kano Commissioner of Police, Ismaila Shuaibu Dikko as first defendant, Inspector Friday second defendant and Police Service Commission as third defendant halt the officers, agents or privies of the first defendant from threatening, arrest or detaining or howsoever interfering with the applicant’s rights of expression and press freedom in connection with the subject matter in the suit , pending the determination of the substantive application.

It was gathered that the applicant, Nasiru Zango had received several complaints against the second defendant, Inspector Friday over alleged forceful collection of money from people accused of crimes falsely running to hundreds of thousands of naira for them to be free.
The court then adjourned the matter to November, 19th for the hearing of the motion on notice.
