CSO calls for grassroots’ inclusion in budget preparation, implementation in Kano

A Civil Society Organisation, Kano Budget working group on Tuesday called for grassroots inclusion in budget preparation and implementation and also for the Kano State Government to adopt a co-productive approach for budgeting and planning in the rural areas.

The founder of the CSO Akibu Hamisu made the call in an interactive session with the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Kano State Ministry of Budget and Planning, Sani Abdullahi Kofar Mata, saying the interactive would surely expose the need and demand of people, before presenting the 2022 budget in Kano.

According to, Akibu the interactive session would make people at the grassroots and CSO  voice out their condition also to be carried along in the scheme of things and to ensure the implementation on budget annually.

He also decried the neglect of rural people by various levels of government, especially from the implementation of every fiscal year.

‘’A lot of time we pay attention to the government at the Federal, state and local levels, and no one really pays attention to the government at the grassroots, which is the Area Councils and the Local Government.

CONVOCATION

On his part the new permanent sectary of the ministry of Budget and planning, Alhaji Sani Kofar Mata called for synergy between his Ministry and CSOs in order to fast-track community development and to have a recognized platform for easy access to information and communication.

He said that the government’s doors are always open, transparent for people, private organizations, CSOs to come in . We cannot work alone, he added.
