CSO lauds appointment of rights activists as commissioners by Gov Yusuf

A Civil Society Organisation,(CSO) SEDSAC has lauded the recent appointment into the Kano State Executive Council of two frontline civil society activists by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

SEDSAC in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Umar Hamisu Kofar Na’isa, on Friday, said the appointment of Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya and Comrade Iro Ma’aji into the cabinet as Commissioners is not only laudable but a well-intentional display of political sagacity to invent honesty and experienced hands to move the administration forward.

SolaceBase reports that Ibrahim Waiya, Nura Iro Ma’aji, Shehu Wada Sagagi, Dahiru Hashim, Isma’il Dan-Maraya, Gaddafi Shehu and Abdulkadir AbdulSalam are the newly appointed commissioners by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf already cleared by the state assembly

‘’SEDSAC believes the appointees are primary actors in the civic space and both have a reputable record in political activism and a burning desire to promote democratic dispensation to the core,’’ the statement said.

‘’In this vein, SEDSAC hereby enjoined the newly appointed commissioners to work with all civil society groups in Kano domain to enhance developmental perspectives in the State.’’

‘’Equally, SEDSAC prays for the appointees to exhibit the energy and endurance to push Kano State into the front burner of socio-economic and political engineering in the North West Geopolitical Zone and Nigeria as a whole.
