CSOs hail justice Dije Aboki for transformative reforms in Kano judiciary
A coalition of over 20 Civil Society Organisations (CSO) under the banner of the League of Civil Society Organisations in Kano State has commended the Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, for what it described as her visionary leadership and far-reaching reforms that have redefined the administration of justice in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano, the League praised Justice Aboki for her “unwavering commitment to institutional modernisation, transparency, and public accountability,” describing her tenure as a turning point in the state’s judicial history.
According to the statement, since her historic appointment as the first female Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Aboki has championed reforms that strengthened the judiciary’s independence, enhanced public confidence, and improved the overall efficiency of the justice system.
SolaceBase reports that the League highlighted the extensive renovation and modernisation of court facilities across the state, including the Kano State High Court Headquarters, as a major achievement under her leadership.
It said the infrastructural upgrades have improved the working environment for judges, magistrates, lawyers, and litigants, while also creating more accessible and citizen-friendly spaces for justice delivery.
“Justice Aboki’s investment in infrastructure is not merely cosmetic but strategic. It reflects her commitment to improving functionality, accessibility, and dignity in the justice system,” the statement read in part.

The coalition also commended her prudent financial management, noting that the Probate Unit under her supervision recorded an unprecedented revenue generation of over N220 million — the highest in more than three decades.
It added that her decisive intervention in addressing financial irregularities and recovering mismanaged funds underscores her integrity and commitment to accountability.
On staff welfare, the League lauded Justice Aboki for increasing magistrates’ fuel allowances from N120,000 to N150,000, describing the gesture as a morale booster and a clear demonstration of her empathy and support for judicial officers.
Her administration’s embrace of digital transformation, including the introduction of e-filing systems, digitisation of court records, and continuous staff training, was also praised.
The League noted that these innovations are reducing case delays and improving transparency within the judiciary.
The statement further acknowledged Justice Aboki’s role in restoring public trust and promoting gender inclusion, saying her appointment and achievements symbolize empowerment and the growing role of women in leadership.
“As the first female Chief Judge in the history of Kano State, Justice Aboki embodies the values of courage, integrity, and reform-minded leadership.
“Her achievements serve as an inspiration for other sectors to pursue excellence and accountability,” the League said.
Calling for sustained support for the ongoing judicial reforms, the League urged members of the Bar and Bench, civil society actors, development partners, and the general public to rally behind Justice Aboki in consolidating the gains made so far.
“We reaffirm our collective support for the Kano State Judiciary under her leadership. Her administration has set a new benchmark for judicial governance that should be emulated nationwide,” the statement concluded.
The statement was endorsed by representatives of several civil society organisations, including Comrade Bala Abdullahi Gaduwama of Wuro Development Concerns (WDCN), Yusha’u Sani Yankuzo, Esq. of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CEFSAN), and Comrade Fatima A. Ibrahim of the United Action for Democracy (UAD), among others.
