The Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim Foundation has graduated 20 participants from its Creative Skills for Livelihoods (CSL) Bootcamp, an initiative designed to equip young people with practical digital and creative skills for sustainable livelihoods.

SolaceBase reports that the foundation made this known in a statement on Saturday, noting that the programme was sponsored by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, who also serves as Acting Commissioner for the Ministry of Water Resources.

According to the statement, “the initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Kano State Government under Abba Kabir Yusuf to promote youth empowerment, digital innovation, and economic productivity.”

It added that the intervention is part of ongoing efforts to support young people with skills that can translate into income and self-reliance.

The foundation explained that participants received training in graphic design, photography, photo editing, as well as basic artificial intelligence and digital productivity tools, positioning them to compete in the evolving digital economy.

A total of 20 participants graduated from the programme, with 12 trained in graphic design and eight in photography and photo editing.

The statement further disclosed that all participants were provided with certificates of participation, laptops, and cameras to support their transition into the workforce.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy, Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that complements government efforts in building a digitally skilled youth population.

The commissioner was represented by the Project Coordinator of Kano ACReSAL and Executive Director of the foundation, Aminu Yushau Gidado, who noted that the programme reflects a commitment to empowering young people with practical and relevant skills.

He said the foundation remains focused on supporting initiatives that drive innovation and economic independence among youths in the state.

The event also had in attendance other dignitaries, facilitators, and partners, including the team at Outside Innovation Lab, who were acknowledged for providing an enabling environment for the successful delivery of the programme.

The foundation expressed appreciation to all contributors and reiterated its commitment to building a generation of productive and self-reliant young people.
