Dantata commissions skills acquisition center named after his late wife

Elder statesman and renowned business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has commissioned the Rabi Tajudeen Aminu Dantata Skills Acquisition Centre and the Dala Old Girls Alumni Association (DOGAA) Secretariat at the Government Girls College (GGC) Dala, Kano State.

SolaceBase reports that speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Saturday, Alhaji Aminu Dantata encouraged the students to make full use of the centre, emphasizing that the skills acquired there would benefit them both during their time at school and after graduation.

He highlighted the rarity of having such a well-equipped skills acquisition centre within a secondary school, noting that it would provide valuable job opportunities for the students.

 “This is a great initiative for the girls at the school. Even after they get married, they will have the business skills needed to support their families,” he said.

Alhaji Dantata expressed his admiration for the efforts of the Dala Old Girls Alumni Association, urging alumni to continue supporting their alma mater in ways that would give back to society.

 He also promised to provide computers for the centre to help students acquire relevant computer skills.

On her part, the National President of DOGAA, Hajiya Saudatu Sani, expressed immense gratitude and joy at the commissioning of the Rabi Tajudeen Aminu Dantata Skills Acquisition Centre and DOGAA Secretariat.

She described the center as a symbol of empowerment and opportunity for young girls, made possible through the vision of the Dala Old Girls Alumni Association, as well as the support of Alhaji Aminu Al-Hassan Dantata, his family, and the business community.

“The centre represents not just a building but the beginning of a new era—an era of education, skill acquisition, and hope,” she said.

Sani also acknowledged the critical contributions of various individuals and groups, including Alhaji Aminu Al-Hassan Dantata, the business community, and the project’s Board of Trustees, led by Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata.

She praised the dedication and unity of the Dala Old Girls and commended the professionals who designed and built the center, despite facing economic challenges. Sani assured that the project was executed with full transparency and accountability, ensuring that all resources were used effectively.

“The center is envisioned as a place of growth, learning, and opportunity, and it is our hope that it will continue to inspire future generations,” she added, concluding with a prayer for Allah’s blessings on the center and those who will benefit from it.

She also took a moment to honor those receiving awards for their contributions to the college, thanking everyone who contributed to the project. She stressed that every contribution, whether large or small, had made a significant impact.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, spoke about the challenges of securing employment opportunity for young ones , noting that the skills center would play a vital role in securing the future of the girls.

“The center ensures that all students, upon graduation, will possess skills of their choice. Even those who graduated before the commissioning of the center are welcome to return and benefit from its offerings,” he stated.

The commissioning of the center marks a new chapter for the students of GGC Dala, providing them with the tools to succeed in both their academic and professional lives.
