Death Of Barr Aliyu Umar : Ganduje Condoles With Family, Kano, Judiciary

Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described the late Attorney General of the state Barr Aliyu Umar SAN as an Icon, who left an indelible mark in the history and practice of judiciary in the country.

This was contained in his condolence message to the family, the state and the judiciary.

The message signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar and sent to Solacebase on Friday said the death of the legal luminary created a big vacuum in the country.

Solacebase Reports that Aliyu Umar died in the early hours of Friday at about 4 am after a protracted illness.

The statement said, “We really missed one of the country’s finest legal practitioners. We are touched severely with the passing away of our own, Barrister Aliyu Umar (SAN) who was two times Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of our dear state.’’

Governor Ganduje in the statement noted that Barrister Umar was an epitome of justice, as well as “…an embodiment of unrivalled and unassuming dispensation of justice, which was manifested in his struggle for the promotion of access to justice and equality before the Law.”

He prayed for Allah’s Mercy and Blessings on the reposed soul of the late Attorney General while calling on his children to follow his suit for loving and serving humanity, for the overall development of man, as a centre of development.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Kano state, I am sending this condolence message to the families of our beloved Barrister Aliyu Umar SAN, Kano state, Nigerian judiciary and the nation as a whole. As his death leaves a great vacuum in the nation’s judicial system,” says Ganduje.

He finally urges upcoming lawyers to always look up for a role model in the activities of the late highly experienced judicial guru, “…not only the upcoming lawyers but even other senior lawyers also have a lot to copy from the late Barrister Umar.
