A Celebrated Vanguard columnist and a devout Muslim Alhaji Kola Muslim Animashaun is dead
His death was announced on Thursday by his son, Jibola Animasaun.
Jibola Animasaun in a statement said his father who died at 75 will be buried on Thursday afternoon after a funeral prayer by 2.00pm at Muslim cemetery by Jinadu street in Agege local government area of Lagos state.
Alhaji Kola Muslim Animashaun was chairman of the editorial board of Vanguard Newspapers.
He was born on July 5, 1939, and began his career in journalism in July 1961 when he joined The Express through the late Olabisi Onabanjo, the former governor of Ogun State who was then the editorial director of the Daily Express.
He left The Express on August 25, 1961, and subsequently left for London where he obtained a diploma certificate in journalism from London School of Journalism.
Shortly after completing his diploma program, he worked with Cecil Dennis, the founder, and publisher of the Liberian Listener.
On returning to Nigeria, he joined the Nigerian Tribune before joining Vanguard as a chief sub-editor before he rose to the position of chairman of the editorial board of the newspaper.
