Nigeria’s educational sector has a cause to celebrate the appointment of Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad Babura, as the new Minister of State for Education in the country.
The appointment, believably, came due to her potential to bring significant developments to the sector, which is battling with numerous challenges.
It is a point of emphasis here to assert that with her strong foundation in education, Dr. Babura will leverage on her expertise and experience in academia to bear towards addressing the country’s educational hurdles.
To say the least, some of the numerous challenges militating against the education sector in the nation, include inadequate funding, inadequate technical facilitators and poor infrastructure, among others.

Therefore, it is apt to concur that the sector requires innovative solutions to improve access, quality and relevance to the country’s development needs.

In fact, as an astute scholar and education administrator, the minister is set to bring about rational changes in the sector by focusing on the above-mentioned critical areas, such as improving access to education, putting efforts to increase funding for education, expanding existing educational programmes and introducing new initiatives to enhance access to quality education, especially for disadvantaged groups.

This is in addition to embracing science and technology to drive teaching and learning processes nationwide.
Being a lecturer, she is aware of the significance of capacity-building programmes for teachers of both secondary and tertiary institutions, especially on digital literacy, pedagogical skills and subject matter expertise.
The former Provost of the College of Education and Islamic Studies Ringim, Jigawa State also appreciates the relevance of integrating and leveraging on technology to improve learning outcomes, expand reach and enhance the overall educational experience.
Dr Babura’s passion for promoting vocational training shall strengthen vocational training programmes to equip students with relevant skills for the job market.

The minister has a zeal to encourage Public-Private Partnerships to foster collaborations between the government and private sector initiatives to galvanize the transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration under her supervision.
These anticipations from Dr Babura are aimed to align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life-long learning opportunities for all.
By working towards achieving SDG 4, the nation can enhance its educational system and contribute to its overall development.
In conclusion, the appointment of Prof. Babura is well deserved because she has the potential to drive transformative change in the nation’s education sector.
