DSS rescues abducted Kano LG secretary, arrests suspected kidnappers
The Kano State Government has announced the successful rescue of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council, Alhaji Hamza Durya, following his abduction.
SolaceBase had reported that Durya was kidnapped over the weekend at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya Local Government Area, prompting an immediate response from security agencies across the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, carried out a swift and coordinated operation that led to the safe rescue of the victim.
It said that two suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation, noting that the suspects sustained bullet wounds in the process.
The government described the development as a major breakthrough and a reflection of the commitment and professionalism of security agencies operating in the state.

It commended the DSS and other security outfits for their prompt response and dedication to protecting lives and property, stressing that the success underscores the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the 44 local government areas.
The statement also acknowledged the role of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, whose continued support and provision of necessary resources to security agencies were said to have enhanced their operational capacity.
