EFCC raids Obasanjo’s library, arrests suspected internet fraudsters

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided Green Legacy Guest House, a hotel located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and arrested persons they claimed were internet fraud suspects.

In this outlawed night raid, arrests were carried out during a pool party on the hotel premises in the early hours of Sunday.

“Officials of the EFCC came into town yesterday in Abeokuta and disrupted a party inside the almighty Obasanjo Presidential Library and arrested people, both suspects of internet fraud and innocent boys [sic] all in the name of raid,” @theZikofabk wrote on X.

“Our governor, Dapo Abiodun, is looking at how slowly the almost only sector [sic] that employs a lot of people and also contributes to the IGR of the state gets threatened and attacked all in the name of catching yahoo boys [sic]. By the time we are jobless I hope una eye go clear.

“Killing the nightlife that some of us are using our tears and blood to build [sic]. Our investments, our livelihood, our time and everything in between. We will not allow this to linger for long.”

In a video that was attached to the X post, some ladies, believed to be attendees of the party, could be seen being escorted out of the premises.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 93 suspected internet fraudsters in Ogun.

Its Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

According to him, the suspects were arrested in a sting operation in Abeokuta on Sunday.

He said that the arrest was a sequel to credible intelligence about their suspected involvement in internet crimes.

”Upon their arrest, 18 vehicles and mobile devices were recovered from them.

”They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.
