Kano election tribunal dismisses petition challenging Alhassan Rurum’s victory

The National/State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Kano has struck out a petition filed before it by All Progressive People Congress (APC) political party and its candidate Dr Aliyu Musa Aliyu Kibiya challenging the victory of member representing Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure federal constituency at the National assembly Kabiru Alhassan Rurum during the 2023 general elections.

SOLACEBASE reports that the court on Monday said that the complainants could not present before the tribunal concrete evidence to support their claims against the winner stressing that they also failed in providing evidence of over voting in the 2023 general election as they alleged.

However, the tribunal gave the complainants two weeks to appeal its judgment if they are not satisfied with it.

The tribunal judgement is the first verdict secured since its establishment after the 2023 general elections.
