Elections: Police arrest 3 suspects over attack on Takai LG INEC office in Kano

Kano Police Command on Sunday confirmed arrest of 3 suspects who attempted burning down INEC office at Takai local government area, where the Presidential and National Assembly elections results were been collated.

SOLACEBASE gathered that the suspects arrived the collation centre around 11.00am on Sunday.

Police image maker in Kano, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa told SOLACEBASE that the suspect set ablaze the generator room and destroyed some INEC properties before they were arrested.

Kiyawa said normalcy has returned to the area as reinforcement was immediately sent to the place and the collation of the results was completed.

An eyewitness told SOLACEBASE that the results of 8 out of ten wards in Takai local government area had been collated and announced before the political thugs came to disrupt the process.

‘’ We were about collating the results of only Takai and Kachacko, as the results of 8 wards had been collated and announced,’’ said the eyewitness.

”Many of us sustained various degrees of injuries as we had to run for our lives.”
