Endbadgovernance Protest: Gov Yusuf inaugurates panel of inquiry to unmask perpetrators, sponsors of violence

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated a 14-member independent judicial commission of inquiry to investigate and identify sponsors of the end bad governance protests that turned violent in the state.

Governor Yusuf who inaugurated the members on Monday at the Kano State government house, charged the commission to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the widespread destructions and looting that marred the protest in the state.

It could be recalled that the protest which started peacefully later turned violent after hoodlums hijacked the protest destroying properties worth billions of Naira, including the Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC courts and shops among others, on August 1st.

Governor Yusuf urged the commission to identify the perpetrators and sponsors of the violence, which also saw the raising of Russian flags by some individuals.

The Governor assured the members of his administration’s full support and cooperation by giving them a free hand to carry out their duties.

The commission’s terms of reference include: Investigating the causes of the End Bad Governance Protest, Identifying the perpetrators and sponsors of the violence, assessing the extent of damage and loss of lives and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.

The commission is expected to submit its report within a specified timeframe for further actions.

SolaceBase reports that the members are Justice Lawal Wada Mahmoud (RTD), Barrister Tajuddeen Funsho, Dr. Musa Borodo, Barrister Sagir S. Gezawa, ACP Munir Madugu, Shehu Abdullahi, Hajiya Gambo Abdullahi and Alhaji Sani Asia.

Others are; Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Dr. Saidu Ahmad Dukawa, Rev. Murtala Mati Dangora, Barrister MB. Danazumi, Barrister Haruna M. Muhammad and Barrister Salisu Marmara as Secretary
