A multilingual technology firm, ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub, has graduated 12 learners with visual impairment after completing a digital skills programme and launched a new initiative to equip Almajiri children with vocational skills as part of its drive to promote inclusive education and economic empowerment.

SolaceBase reports that the graduation ceremony and unveiling of the Almajiri Skills Development Programme took place during the Hub’s STARTUP FRIDAY event at the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Kano.

The visually impaired graduates completed the ENGAUSA PC Exploration Programme organised by the ENGAUSA Skills Development Foundation (ESDF), where they acquired practical computer literacy and digital skills aimed at enhancing their educational, professional and entrepreneurial opportunities.

In line with the organisation’s inclusive philosophy, the graduates were recognised as ENGAUSA VIPs (Very Important People) and celebrated as people with special abilities.

Speaking during the event, the Chief Executive Officer of ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub, Engr. Mustapha Habu Ringim, said the organisation believes access to quality technology education should not be limited by physical ability or social background.

He said ENGAUSA would continue to create opportunities for underserved communities through competency-based training programmes designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills for the digital economy.

The graduates received goodwill messages from the Centre Manager of the Technology Incubation Centre, Haj. Fatima Evuti, the North-West Zonal Director of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr. Abubakar Wara, and Dr Imam Isah Musa of the National Agricultural Extension, Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The speakers commended ENGAUSA for its commitment to inclusive skills development and urged the graduates to use their newly acquired knowledge to improve their lives and contribute to society.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the programme’s Lead Instructor, Engr. Abdulaziz Ado Zango, expressed appreciation to ENGAUSA for creating an environment where visual impairment was not seen as a barrier to technological excellence.

He said the initiative had demonstrated that with the right support and training, persons with special abilities could excel in the technology sector.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Kano State Chapter, Alh. Abdurrahman Uba Daushe, thanked ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub and the ENGAUSA Skills Development Foundation for extending scholarship opportunities to members of the association and other persons with special abilities.

According to him, the intervention reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable groups have equal access to quality education, digital skills and opportunities for socio-economic advancement.

The event also featured the launch of the Almajiri Skills Development Programme, an initiative designed to provide Almajiri children with practical, income-generating vocational skills.

Sponsored by Haj. Ummulkhair Aminu Dantata, the programme will offer free training in smartphone repairs and solar installation technology to help participants become self-reliant and improve their livelihood opportunities.

In another highlight of the event, ENGAUSA honoured two graduates with hearing impairment for their outstanding achievements in technology.

Musa Salihu was recognised for his excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, while Ahmad Bashir was honoured for his creativity and technical expertise in Artificial Intelligence tools, digital content creation, videography and filmmaking.

Their recognition drew applause from participants, who described their achievements as proof that physical limitations do not prevent individuals from excelling when given access to quality education and opportunities.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates, goodwill messages from participants and renewed commitments by stakeholders to support initiatives that promote inclusive education, technical skills development and youth empowerment.
