Environmental Sustainability: NAF honours Kano-ACReSAL project coordinator

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Comprehensive School Kwa has honoured Kano-ACReSAL’s Project Coordinator, Dr Dahir Muhammad Hashim, with an Award of Excellence for his contributions towards environmental sustainability.

The school’s Commandant, Group Capt. N.U. Danjuma, an environmentalist, during the event on Monday, expressed commitment to promoting environmental conservation and commended Kano-ACReSAL for addressing environmental challenges.

He applauded the Kano-ACReSAL Project Coordinator’s initiative of the school’s “Catch Them Young” which is aimed at fostering environmental awareness among students and from the cradle.

In a remark, Dr Dahir announced that Kano ACReSAL plans to involve 30 schools and 20 communities in climate change awareness programs and offered the school 5 hectares of orchards as part of the collaboration.

SolaceBase reports that Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) is a World Bank-financed project designed to tackle the pressing issues of land degradation and climate change in 19 states of Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The project comprises four key components and is scheduled to run for six years, ending in 2028.

The visit highlighted mutual support and collaboration for sustainable environmental practices.
