Eulogy for Dr. Habib Sadauki… Mentor of mentors, medical director, chief executive officer and senior consultant
By Abdullahi Ismail Kwalwa
The inevitability of death has posed a daunting challenge to the living for modesty in conducting the affairs of what is called life.
It is on this note we all must bear witness and remember the modesty and humility in the life of Dr Habib Sadauki, from clinical practice to board room and public life,
He has simplicity, patience, dedication, accommodation, a spirit of collaboration and indeed meaningful partnership in achieving the common good for all.
It has been a memorable personal experience with Dr Habib Sadauki looking back at the number of surgeries we performed together on-call duties when he was the executive secretary of the hospital management board.
Sometimes spending the night together and the following morning he proceeds to the office for regular administrative duties. I can recall how quick he used to respond to call duties as third on call despite his busy schedule.
On the scale of tolerance, I can always look back at how the review of the edict establishing the hospital management board in 1995 opened a lot of outcry on a number of issues therefrom and which I was on the front line at that time as PRO/Secretary of State Nurses union, but Dr Habib Sadauki never took official matters personally.
We saw and witnessed the highest level of maturity and official tolerance in him, that paved the way for several joint efforts and achievements for the board and the unions at that time.

He encouraged on-the-job training and the sponsorship of many staff for various specialist courses in and out of the country.
He brought his personal experience to bear on the policy and development in the MPDRS at both local and national levels.
Dr. Sadauki was regular, prompt, resourceful and tireless in attending review meetings.
He has maintained a very bright face that was always welcoming and a smooth personal spirit that was warm, sincere and friendly.
A very religious and prayerful person, exuding a smile to comfort whoever encountered him. Dr Habib Sadauki graduated from ABU Zaria, in 1978 and had a great career as a specialist medical consultant and administrator in the rank of his selfless contemporaries like the late Dr Abdulhamid Isa Dutse of blessed memory and Dr Bashir Birnin Kudu, the trio that joined hands to establish Premier Hospital in Kano.
As I shed tears writing this short eulogy for Dr Habib Sadauki,I pray to Allah subhanahu Wa taala to grant him peace and mercy in the highest level of paradise, bless his children and console his family and friends, particularly Hajiya Maryam who served as a great link between us. Allah ya gafarta masa.
