2024: Family announces Onyeka Onwenu’s honourable farewell

The family of legendary singer, Onyeka Owenu has revealed that the legend will be laid to rest before the end of this month.

This was shared during a condolence visit from the Musical Society of Nigeria (MCSN) at Onwenu’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The visit was led by Orits Wiliki, Chairman of the MCSN Board of Trustees.

Onwenu’s sons, Abram and Tjiani, expressed their commitment to honoring their late mother’s wishes by arranging for her burial as soon as possible.

The details of the burial arrangements will be announced in the coming days.

In a 2021 opinion piece for Premium Times, Onwenu had requested a simple and private farewell.

The icon who passed away last Tuesday after a performance at a birthday party, was a respected member of the MCSN and leaves behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
