JUST IN: FG, Labour reach agreement on minimum wage

The national tripartite committee on minimum wage will meet every day for one week, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume said at the end of the meetings with Organized Labour on Monday night.

The meeting which started at 5:00 pm ended a few minutes to 11:00 pm.

The Organized Labour and the government also signed an agreement.

Though details of the agreement are not yet public, Akume at the end of the meeting said that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to paying more than N60,000 as minimum wage, no worker would be victimized because of the strike and that the tripartite committee would meet every day for the next one week.

“Labour in deference to the high esteem of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria’s commitment in (ii) above undertakes to convene a meeting of its organs immediately to consider this commitment; and
