Fire destroyed part of Accounting Department, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of Bayero University Kano on Tuesday.
An eyewitness told Solacebase that the fire which raged for close to an hour started at about 1.30pm and destroyed some documents and equipment in the building with furniture.
The eyewitness said though the students are on holiday but some people in the department when the fire occurred sustained injuries while scampering for safety.
Confirming the situation to Solacebase, the Public Affair Director of the University, Dr Ahmed Shehu said the fire was immediately brought under control as the loss was minimized.
”It was the accounting department which is in the academic area that was affected, ”said Dr Shehu.
He said the cause of the fire cannot be determined immediately but the authority is on top of the situation.
