Fire destroys FRCN staff residence in Kano

The residence of a staff of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (Pyramid FM) Kano, Hajia Samira Hassan, has been gutted by fire, destroying property worth millions of Naira.

The fire, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, was said to have destroyed her sitting room, living rooms and other places in the house.

Even though the cause of the inferno had yet to be ascertained, it was suspected to have started from the ceiling in one of the living rooms.

Narrating the incident to our reporter on Thursday, Hajia Samira said the incident, which happened in the afternoon, had destroyed the entire roofing of the house.

“The incident happened in the afternoon and luckily, myself and my children were in the house. We also thanked the Almighty Allah that there was no loss of life,” she said.

According to her, it was the quick intervention of some good samaritans in the area that put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other houses in the neighborhood.

When contacted,  the Public Relations Officer of the State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the agency did not receive a report on the incident.

“We did not receive a report on that particular fire incident,t but we got two reports from Layin Yankaba and layin Freedom around the Mohibba filling station, old graveyard area,” he said.
