The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has confirmed a fire incident at its Ibadan South East Local Government Area office on Friday.
A statement issued by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella, disclosed that the fire broke out around 10.30 a.m. on Friday.
The statement said that the cause of the fire was still unknown.
“No life was lost but for the logistic materials that got burnt, it will not affect the Saki/West State Constituency re-run election coming up on Saturday, February 3, 2024,” he stated
INEC would also conduct re-run and bye-elections simultaneously in nine states on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
