FUD lucky to have Prof. Abdulraheem as Pro-Chancellor- Gov. Namadi

The Governor of Jigawa state Malam Umar Namadi, has commended the  Federal government for appointing Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, a seasoned University Administrator as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council Federal University Dutse, FUD.

The Governor who gave the commendation when Prof Abdulraheem led new Council members paid him a courtesy call.

He lauded the Federal government for appointing such high-calibre Council members for FUD adding that Prof. Shuaibu is a name to be reckoned with in Nigeria especially in the Education sector because he is a seasoned University Administrator and also an excellent Administrator in the Public Service.

Governor Namadi said he is optimistic that the tenure of Prof.Abdulraheem as Pro-Chancellor will be different from all the other tenures in the history of the University because a lot of experience will be brought to bear in the system.

He said education is very important to the people and government of Jigawa state and as such they cherish FUD because it is here to give access to high education opportunities to the people of the state and beyond adding that as a government it is an obligation to support the university and Students from Jigawa state.

The Jigawa state governor said his first priority when he took over was to review the government scholarship scheme by 100 percent adding that his government is going to work closely with the new Governing Council for the progress and advancement of the University.

Earlier in his speech, Prof. Abdulraheem said he was in the government house to present the new council members to the governor and appreciated the support the state government has been giving the university in the last thirteen years.

He said over the years the university has grown in leaps and bounds and that would not have been possible without the support of the people and government of Jigawa state who have been an excellent host.

Prof. Abdulraheem commended the state government for the scholarship scheme for Jigawa students which has gone a long way to assist the less privileged students to acquire higher education.

The pro-chancellor assured the governor that FUD would continue to maintain high standards in order to produce students who would be useful to themselves and Nigeria at large.
