FUK celebrates, honours Prof. Pate at grand reception

It was an evening filled with glowing tributes, heartfelt commendations, and generous gift presentations as members of the Federal University Kashere community, friends, and well-wishers converged at Gombe International Hotel to honour the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Umaru Pate, at a colourful gala night organised as part of his handover ceremonies.
SolaceBase reports that the event attracted dignitaries and guests from far and near, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the outgoing Vice Chancellor and to show support for the incoming Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Inuwa Ja’afaru.
In his opening remarks, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor William Olusola Olu-Aderounmu, who also served as Chairman of the occasion, described the program as a celebration of an iconic leader whose tenure left an indelible mark on the university.
He commended Professor Pate for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the institution.
The Pro-Chancellor further disclosed that the Governing Council would organise a special program in April this year, during which a book documenting the achievements of Professor Pate would be unveiled in recognition of his unprecedented accomplishments.
Earlier, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Umaru Pate, who was visibly delighted as he attended the event alongside his wife, Hajiya Zainab Abubakar Pate, and other family members, expressed fulfilment at the successful completion of his tenure.
He thanked all those who contributed to the success of his administration and pledged to remain a worthy ambassador of the Federal University of Kashere wherever he may find himself.

He assured the incoming Vice Chancellor of his readiness to offer support and guidance when necessary.
Pate, a Professor of Media and Society, expressed profound appreciation to the Governing Council and the university management, particularly his two Deputy Vice Chancellors, for their dedication in keeping the university running smoothly, even during his absence.

In his remarks, the incoming Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Inuwa Ja’afaru, pledged to harness the wealth of experience and extensive networks of Professor Pate in the discharge of his duties, as he prepares to steer the institution forward.
Goodwill messages poured in from speakers at the event, all of whom eulogised Professor Pate and offered prayers for success in his future endeavours. Various departments, units, and individuals also presented gifts and tributes in his honour.
