The federal government has announced the recognition of three tertiary institutions in Togo and five in Benin Republic
The Education Minister, Prof. Mamman Tahir on Channels Television Sunday Politics.
During the programme on Sunday, the minister said the Federal Government only recognised three institutions in Togo, and five in Benin Republic while it tagged others as illegal institutions.
The recognised three institutions in Togo are Universite de Lome, Universite de Kara and Catholic University of West Africa.

SolaceBase reports that the recognised five institutions in Benin Republic are Universite D’ Abomey-Calavi, Universite de Parakou, Universite Nationale Des Sciences, Technologies Ingenierie Et Mathematiques, Universite Nationale D’ Agriculture and Universite Africaine De Development Cooperatif.

Mamman said many Nigerians parading the certificates from the “illegal schools” didn’t even leave the shores of Nigeria but got their certificates through racketeering in collaboration with government officials at home and abroad.
The minister said the “fake universities” capitalised on the “gullibility” of Nigerians who patronise such fake schools.
