Gov. Aliyu reinstates sacked Perm Sec, promotes him to HOS

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has reinstated a former permanent secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Sarkin Fulani, who was sacked by the immediate past administration of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

The governor, according to a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Fulani was also promoted to the position of Head of Service.

It could be recalled that Fulani, following his compulsory retirement by the Tambuwal administration approached the National Industrial Court, Sokoto where he got judgment to be reinstated but was never implemented by the previous administration.

The court in its ruling nullified Sarkin Fulani’s compulsory retirement from the state civil service and subsequently directed that he should be re-instated.

Justice Kiyashot Demlak in his ruling then said the claimant had successfully proved his case of wrongful retirement based on legal arguments and presentation of required documents.

Justice Demlak said the defendant, Sokoto State Government, through its Counsel, Suleiman Usman (SAN), failed to prove the legality of its actions, bordering on the claimant’s alleged misconduct.

He ordered the reinstatement of Sarkin-Fulani as well as payment of his stipulated entitlements, along with N100,000 as compensation.
