The Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Gov Bala Mohammed has invited interested communities across the state to submit their Memoranda of Request for the creation of new Emirates, Chiefdoms and Districts.

This was contained in a statement signed by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, on Monday.

Recall that Bauchi state presently comprises six emirates. They are Bauchi, Katagum, Misau, Jama’are, Ningi and Dass.

Also, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State in December 2024 approved the creation of Seyawa Chiefdom with the headquarters in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

Muhammed stated that this was part of the efforts of his administration to find lasting solutions to the lingering problems around the creation of the Seyawa Chiefdom, which has defiled efforts by successive administrations for over three decades.

According to the statement, the call for memoranda is in line with promises made during the last election campaigns and in response to persistent calls by various communities.

SolaceBase reports that the memoranda submission period runs from Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to Tuesday, July 8, 2025, and submissions are to be made at the office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Umar Secretariat, Bauchi.

‘’Communities submitting requests must prepare 15 copies of the memoranda, which should include a cover page indicating the proposed name and location of the new Emirate, Chiefdom or District; an application addressed to the Governor through the Permanent Secretary; and a brief history of the people,’’ the statement said.

‘’Other required details include demographic data, natural resources in the area, number of districts and village areas, relevant maps and photographs, and verifiable signatures of district and village heads along with community leaders, attested by a notary public.

‘’The Bauchi State Government explained that this initiative aims to deepen local governance, enhance cultural identity, and strengthen the role of traditional institutions as promoters and custodians of peace, unity and development in the state.
