Gov. Namadi pledges to support new FUD VC

Governor Umar Namadi has pledged the support of the Jigawa State Government to Professor Ahmad Muhammad Gumel, who assumed office as the 4th substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutse on Tuesday, February, 10,2026.

The Governor, who made the statement during a dinner organized to honour the outgoing VC, said Professor Gumel came first out of the 21 applicants that were interviewed for the position, adding that he is confident that the new VC will succeed in his new assignment.

He congratulated the FUD community for having Prof.Gumel as the new VC because he is a man of humility, sincerity and capacity to deliver, adding he was impressed by his work ethic when he oversaw the acquisition and transition of Khadija university acquired by the Jigawa state government.

Mal. Namadi assured the new VC that his doors are open and he is ever willing to render assistance to the university at all times.

He appreciated the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed for the successful completion of his tenure, adding that he was a hardworking academic and administrator throughout his tenure, and that the expansion of the physical infrastructure during his tenure testified to his capacity as a leader.

He said the government and good people of Jigawa state are proud of the achievements of the outgoing VC and prayed for his success in his future endeavours.

On his part, the former VC Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, on behalf of the Council and Management of the university, thanked the government and good people of Jigawa state, especially the governor, for the tremendous goodwill and support he enjoyed as the 3rd substantive VC of FUD, adding that the support was crucial for his success as VC.

Prof. Abdulkarim described the new VC as an excellent academic and researcher who has the capacity to build on the success recorded by his administration.
