Gumel takes over as FUD VC, unveils 11 point agenda
Prof. Ahmad Muhammed Gumel has assumed office as the 3rd substantive Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse in Jigawa State.
Gumel pledged to sustain the positive legacies of his predecessor through 11 points agenda, which he unveiled at the inauguration ceremony, which held on Tuesday at the Nuhu Muhammed Sunusi Auditorium.
He revealed that he will prioritise Academic Excellence through revise and modernize curricula to meet NUC benchmarks and global digital transformation in pedagogy adding that he will introduce new and on-demand programs like AI & Machine Learning, Data Science & Analytics, Networking and Cloud Computing, Project Management, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain, Geology, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Community Health, Science Education, Business Education, among others.

The new VC promised to invest heavily in Research & Innovation, Digital Transformation, Student Welfare and Empowerment, Staff Welfare and Development, Financial Sustainability, Global Partnerships, University and Community Engagement, Governance & Accountability and Environmental Stewardship.
He said his vision is to transform Federal University Dutse into Nigeria’s premier hub for research-driven solutions and a centre of excellence for innovations across agriculture, science, technology, management, and the humanities by 2030.
Prof. Gumel told the audience that his mission is to cultivate an environment of academic rigour, knowledge development, and the free exchange of ideas. By 2030, adding that he intends for the majority of our graduates to be highly employable and recognized for their creativity and dedication to service.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the outgoing VC Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed for his mentorship and leadership opportunities given to him which eventually culminated in his appointment as the 4th substantive VC of FUD.
He thanked the 4th Governing Council under the leadership of Prof. Shuainu Oba Abdul Raheem for the confidence reposed in him, adding that he will not disappoint them.
Professor Gumel extended his appreciation to Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state for his support and commitment to the university. He also acknowledged the massive support of the staff of the university who stood by him throughout the selection process.
