Health workers union mourns former NLC president, Ciroma

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, has mourned the death of Ali Ciroma, former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). 

The late labour leader died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State capital, on Tuesday.

Reacting to his death in a statement signed by Kabiru Ado, on behalf of the medical workers, the group said Ciroma stood very strong against the military junta in Nigeria between 1984 and 1988 to protect the interest and welfare of the ordinary Nigerian worker.

“Comrade Ali Ciroma was a Veteran and Quintessential Labour Leader who worked tirelessly for the liberation of the Nigerian Worker. He will be surely missed by all Nigerian Workers. Comrade Ali Ciroma’s legacies will continue to linger among labour leaders in years to come.

“We at the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) humbly appeals to the Borno State Government and indeed the Federal Government to consider the late Labour Veteran for immortalization with one of the National Symbolic Structure in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment or anywhere suitable.

“MHWUN leadership condoles with his immediate family, the Borno State MHWUN, the entire Health Workers in the country, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). MHWUN Leadership also condoles with the Borno State Government for the irreparable loss. We pray that Almighty Allah will forgive his sins and repose his soul.”
