PHOTOS: Heavy security presence at Kano Govt House amid defection speculation

There is a heavy security presence at the gates of the Kano State Government House, with several large security vehicles stationed around the premises.

Security personnel were also seen in large numbers within the Government House compound, tightening access and monitoring movements.

SolaceBase reports that the heightened security comes amid widespread speculation that the governor may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) today, Monday.

The speculations, which began circulating weeks ago, have sparked intense political discussions across the state and on social media platforms.

As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the Kano State Government or the governor’s media aides to confirm or deny the speculation.

Likewise, security agencies have not provided any explanation for the unusual security buildup at the Government House.

Three Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), Police Water Cannon sprayer tanker, DSS vehicles, NSCDC operatives and Policemen could be seen mounting surveillance.
